As a professional voice artist, I work in English, German and Afrikaans.

Years of experience and training have given me not only the range but also the versatility to do just about anything: from advertisements and corporate films to documentaries, podcasts and much more off-the-wall stuff.

My professional highlights include:

  • English Station Voice for Deutsche Welle DW TV (since 2024)
  • English Announcements on DB trains Germany-wide (since 2011)
  • Advertisements for Volkswagen, Panasonic, Playmobil, Weleda, Teufel and Lenor (to name but a few…)
  • Recordings for the Right Livelihood /Alternative Nobel Prize awards ceremony, the World Health Forum, Global Media Forum and the annual meetings of BMW and Siemens Healthineers (both in English & German)

I also have experience as presenter, language coach and recording director in the studio.

Professional Experience

In the roughly 20 years I’ve worked as a bilingual (native English / German) voice artist in Berlin, I’ve voiced advertisements, corporate videos, product films, explanatory videos, been a brand voice, done Voice of God / VoG as well as in-house announcements, telephone waiting lines, audio guides, podcasts, educational tools, employee training, museum tours, documentaries, voice overs as well as TV and film synchronization. I’ve recorded a navigational system and spoken various roles in video games and cartoons.

I have been the English Station Voice for Deutsche Welle DW TV since 2024, done English Announcements on DB trains Germany-wide (2011-2025) and done Recordings for the Right Livelihood /Alternative Nobel Prize awards ceremony, the World Health Forum (since 2024), Global Media Forum (since 2024) and the annual meetings of BMW and Siemens Healthineers (both in English & German, both since 2023)

I have also worked as a presenter at festive events at Villa Tauber, Berlin and La Plaisance in George, South Africa.  

As a trained actress, I’ve performed on stages in seven countries. I have also taken part in live readings, for example at the Akademie der Künste, Berlin.

As director for audio recordings, I’ve worked for DW TV & Museum Barberini.   

As language coach (Afrikaans) I assisted in the German dubbed version of the television series and films “The Purge”, “Covert Affairs” and “Mandela”. I’ve also worked as a language coach (English) with the Intendant of a big theatre in Berlin, and in English and German with the Leiterin of a Stiftung in Berlin.

As context: The well-known German kids’ song In der Weihnachtsbäckerei (The Christmas Bakery) describes a world where everything is wonderful and exciting and fun. I thought it was rather genius when a recording director told me:

About me

I was born in South Africa where I grew up speaking English, German and Afrikaans fluently. After completing school, I did my acting diploma at the University of Cape Town combined with a BA majoring in English Literature (completing both with Cum Laude). My professional debut was with the renowned Handspring Puppet Company, with whom I performed at international theatre festivals. In 2001 I moved to Berlin, where I’ve lived and worked ever since.

Although I’ve been doing mostly studio work, I also continued to work in the theatre. And whenever time allows, I embrace my other passion: writing (I was awarded a research grant from the city of Berlin for my first novel, still a work-in-progress).

As a professional voice artist working in German and English, I thrive on the challenge of finding the right tone and exact delivery for every project, line or even word. I aspire to make every text (even the less well-written ones) work. The good ones, though – I like to take them for a tango, or pull their legs, or look them straight in the eye. I give them wings. Or weight. Whichever they require.
